For its 42nd year, Winterlude organizers are banking on Ottawa's Sparks Street to create magic.

Sparks Street is beautiful during the day, but at night it becomes extraordinary, described Winterlude spokesperson Ariane Succar in an interview with Les matins from here. The buildings will be lit in the evening, in addition to a luminous and interactive tour.

The winter festival is not limited to the pedestrian street, however, as there are activities such as the Byward Market, the Glebe district, Bank Street, as well as the Domaine des flocons and the brook of the Brasserie in Gatineau. The National Capital Commission (NCC) has reopened two sections of the Rideau Canal skating rink.

While the Byward Market had been the center of the event in the past, the organization wanted to take advantage of the pedestrian aspect of Sparks Street to create new experiences this year.

Sparks is a pedestrian street, and it is done on three blocks of streets, so between [the streets] Elgin, Metcalfe, O'Connor, and Bank.[...] It's a different way of living [Winterlude ], she adds.
